Unification of Afrika (Saturday’s Class)
“Towards a United Africa”
Our Saturday Class is dedicated to the study and advancement of African unity—the central pillar of Kwame Nkrumah’s vision for the continent. This programme explores the historical, political, economic, and cultural dimensions of unification, examining both the challenges and opportunities facing the African continent today.
Participants engage with the theme of Nkrumah’s seminal work, Africa Must Unite, as well as other foundational texts on Pan-Africanism, regional integration, and continental governance. The class examines the legacy of colonialism, the politics of neo-colonialism, and the strategies required to achieve genuine economic and political sovereignty for Africa.
The class also hears from Presenters on The African Union (AU) and its vast work and documentation on the Africa We Want (Agenda 20263). Civil Society has not engaged with the AU’s vast work as it should. We encourage engagement as we share vital AU documents. Civil Society needs to go beyound criticism to positive AU engagement.
The meeting also focuses on the mobilisation of the indigenous and organic Nations of Africa who hold sui generis rights predating the formation and constitutionalisation of any of the 55 neocolonial African states.
