Consciencism Philosophical and Ideological Study Group (Thursday’s Class)

“Philosophy for Decolonisation”

Our Thursday Class is dedicated to the rigorous study of Consciencism—Kwame Nkrumah’s philosophical framework for the decolonisation of the African mind and the ideological foundation for African liberation and unity.

This study group engages deeply with Nkrumah’s seminal work, Consciencism: Philosophy and Ideology for Decolonisation, and explores its relevance to contemporary challenges facing Africa and its peoples. Participants examine Nkrumah’s reconciliation of African traditional values, Islamic and Euro-Christian influences, and socialist thought, and consider how these ideas can inform the ongoing struggle for African renaissance.

What to Expect:

  • In-depth reading and discussion of Nkrumah’s philosophical writings

  • Critical engagement with the ideological foundations of Pan-Africanism

  • Exploration of the relationship between philosophy, politics, and social transformation

  • A supportive and intellectually rigorous environment for debate and reflection
